Australia will be able to source 90 per cent of its energy from renewables by the 2040s without risking major economic pain or power shortages.
That s according to a new paper from the Grattan Institute, which says getting the last 10 per cent of fossil fuel reliance out of the grid will be a major challenge.

Report on climate risk profile predicts reduction in efficiency and material damage, taking into account temperature rise Climate projections for 2021–2050 for Karnataka show that the summer maximum temperature is projected to increase by 1.4 to 2.4 degrees Celsius in the districts with thermal power plants, and by 1.7 to 2.4°C in districts with solar power plants. The mean annual rainfall is projected to increase by 11% to 22% in the districts with power infrastructure, and heavy rainfall events by two to six events in districts with thermal power plants and by one to two events in some of the districts with solar power plants.

SEOUL A team of researchers based in South Korea and Switzerland set a new record of 25.6 percent in the power conversion efficiency of perovskite solar cells by introducing an anion engineering concept that uses pseudo-halide anion formate to suppress anion-vacancy defects and augment crystallinity.
A perovskite solar cell includes a perovskite structured compound as the light-harvesting active layer. The high absorption coefficient of perovskite solar cells enables ultrathin films to absorb the complete visible solar spectrum, leading to the creation of low-cost, efficient, thin and flexible solar modules.
